Show yourself!

Ten Utrecht-based healthcare, social work, and employment organizations recently launched an inspiring video, "Activating with Passion." They demonstrate the importance of everyone being able to participate—in a way that suits their abilities. Being active provides enjoyment, structure, self-confidence, connection, and a sense of purpose, thus contributing to health and well-being.

In Utrecht, we believe in the power of participation – and together we make it possible!

Councillor Linda Voortman gives the starting signal for the launch of the ADSU activation video
Together with Bianca and Mike, participants who are active at an organization of the partnership ADSUOn December 16th, Linda Voortman launched the joint video about the power of participation. The video, developed by ten organizations in healthcare, social welfare, and employment, carries the simple yet powerful message: Your day becomes meaningful when you get moving!

The video shows what participating through activities, work, or volunteering means in life. Being active, connecting with others, and utilizing one's own talents increases one's self-esteem and well-being.

Everyone participates – in their own way
Being active isn't something everyone takes for granted, and sometimes it's difficult to take that first step. With this video, we want to show that it's possible for everyone to do something that suits them, something that will help them get involved and want to participate again. Simply by doing something that makes you happy! For example, a cup of coffee at the community center, playing sports, participating in a cultural activity, volunteering, or finding a paid job. But this also includes taking courses, being creative in workshops and music studios, or working at a care farm. In Utrecht, organizations are working together to support residents in finding the activity that suits them. The principle is always the same: participating in a way that suits the individual and makes them happy.

Joint effort
The ten collaborating organizations operate in various domains—from healthcare and welfare to reintegration and employment—but share the same goal: giving more people the opportunity to participate through work and activation. By combining knowledge and networks, a broad movement is emerging where work and welfare go hand in hand.

Video: Work makes a difference
The video features residents who share what work means to them. The message: participation provides structure, self-confidence, and a sense of purpose. The video can be viewed at: ADSU – Getting started in Utrecht – YouTube
