Need help with housework?

As you get older, it can become increasingly difficult to keep your home clean. This may be because you have difficulty moving or because you have other physical or psychological complaints.

If no one in your area can help you with the housework, you can see if it is possible to get household help through the Social Support Act (Wmo). For example, a household help can help you with mopping, vacuuming and other tasks that are too heavy for you. You can apply for this help at the municipality of Utrecht. You pay a monthly amount yourself. This amount is determined by the government. Make an appointment with municipality of Utrecht.

A clean house

If you submit a Wmo application for household assistance, municipality of Utrecht you have done, you will then be visited by a neighbourhood team employee. During this visit, we will discuss together why you need help and how we can arrange it. If support from the municipality of Utrecht is possible, we will pass this on to the municipality. You will then hear from the municipality whether you will receive domestic help. Perhaps you have other questions or problems? You can also contact the neighbourhood team for this. Call, email or come by at the neighborhood team in your district.

Frequently asked questions

If you find it difficult to apply for support yourself, ask a family member or friend to help you. You can also ask an independent client support worker from U Centraal to help you with the application. Look at the website of You Central for more information.

There are two options:

    1. The municipality of Utrecht will arrange support for you. This is called care in kind (ZIN).
    2. You purchase support yourself with a personal budget (pgb). You will then have to deal with a number of requirements. You must conclude a care agreement with the care provider from whom you purchase the support and you must keep the administration yourself.

More information can be found on the website page Care in kind or personal budget.

If you receive support from the Wmo, you will pay a monthly contribution yourself. For more information about this, see the website of the municipality of Utrecht or on the website of the Central Administration Office. A number of health insurers will reimburse part of this amount or the entire amount. Contact your health insurer to see what will be reimbursed.

The municipality of Utrecht works together with four organizations:

  • Docura Home Care
  • Emile Home Care
  • Tzorg
  • Care Watch BV

Which organization will help you depends on the neighborhood you live in.
