Support as you grow older

As you get older, you may sometimes need more support. For example, you may have more difficulty moving, forget things more often or become more mentally burdened.

Perhaps you could use some support with household chores or personal care. Or maybe you need extra medical care? Take contact on with the neighborhood team in your neighborhood. Together we will see if we can help you get approval for this support from your health insurer, the Social Support Act (Wmo) or the Long-term Care Act (Wlz).

Two types of support

If you have been approved to receive care at home, you can choose from two types of support, namely:

  • Care in kind. The municipality of Utrecht or your health insurer chooses from whom you receive the care you need.
  • Personal budget. Here you choose who you want to receive support from. You have to arrange a lot yourself.

It can be quite difficult to decide which care suits you best. Would you like someone to think about this with you? Contact the neighborhood team in your neighborhood or with the organization You Central.

FAQ

  • With care in kind (ZIN) you cannot choose who will help you. An advantage of this type of support is that you do not have to arrange the care yourself. You also do not have to keep any administration.
  • With the personal budget (pgb) you choose who helps you and when. A disadvantage is that you have to conclude a contract with the person or organization that you want to be helped by. You also have to keep the pgb administration yourself.

First, it must be clear what care you need exactly. If that is clear, you can apply for a pgb. This can be done in various places:

  • You can get a PGB from the Social Support Act (Wmo) apply to municipality of Utrecht.
  • When CIZ You can apply for a personal budget under the Long-term Care Act (Wlz).
  • For a personal budget under the Health Insurance Act, you can contact your health insurer.

Yes, you contribute to both schemes yourself. How much you have to pay depends on the type of support you receive. For more information, see the website of the Central Administration Office (CAK).
