Need help with housework?

Are you no longer able to keep your house clean due to illness or disability? And do you not have a partner or housemate who can help you with this? Then see if you can get household help through the Social Support Act (Wmo).

A domestic helper can help you with vacuuming, mopping, doing the laundry and other tasks that are too heavy for you. You can apply for this help at the municipality of Utrecht. You pay a small amount per month yourself.

Interested? Make an appointment with the Municipality of Utrecht or contact the neighborhood team in your district.

A clean house

If you have submitted a Wmo application for household assistance to the Municipality of Utrecht, a neighbourhood team member will contact you. We will discuss with you why you need help and how this can be arranged. Together, we will assess whether assistance from the Municipality of Utrecht is possible. If so, we will pass this on to the municipality. You will then hear from them whether you will receive household assistance. It might be good to know: you can also come to us with other questions or problems. Welcome to the neighbourhood team in your district.

Frequently asked questions

You can apply for Wmo support from the Municipality of Utrecht. You can register via the website . Afterwards, a neighbourhood team member will contact you to determine what support you need. A plan will be drawn up, and then you will receive a decision from the municipality. This allows you to receive the right help.

If you find it difficult to arrange help yourself, you can contact an independent client support worker from U Centraal. They will help you before, during, and after applying for care. You can find more information on the U Centraal website . Of course, you can also contact the neighborhood team in your district.

There are two options:

    1. The municipality arranges help for you. This is called care in kind (ZIN).
    2. You purchase help yourself with a personal budget (pgb). You will then have to deal with a number of requirements. For example, you must be able to conclude a care agreement with the care provider from whom you purchase the help. You must also keep a pgb administration.

Visit the website page on care in kind or PGB for more information.

If you receive support under the Wmo, you must pay a portion yourself each month. The amount is stated on the Municipality of Utrecht website . Some health insurers reimburse part of this or the entire amount. Please contact your health insurer for more information.

The municipality of Utrecht has selected four organizations for this purpose:

  • Docura Home Care
  • Care Watch BV
  • Emile Home Care
  • Tzorg

The organization you will deal with depends on the neighborhood you live in.
