Types of care support

Have you received approval to receive home care from your health insurer, the Social Support Act (Wmo), Youth Act (Jw) or Long-term Care Act (Wlz)? Then you can choose from two types of support, namely:

  • Care in kind: the health insurer or municipality determines which providers you can choose from.
  • Personal budget: you choose who you want to receive help from. However, you have to arrange a lot more yourself.

It can be quite complicated to decide what is most convenient for you. If you would like help with this, you can contact the neighborhood team in your neighborhood.

Help with personal budget

Do you need help getting a personal budget (pgb)? Then there are different ways to apply for this help. That depends on the law you are dealing with:

  • Social Support Act (Wmo). Contact client support at You Central.
  • Youth Act (JW). Your application for a personal budget is processed via the neighborhood team in your neighborhood.

What the neighbourhood team cannot arrange for you are personal care budgets and facilities. Also, personal care budgets from the Long-term Care Act (Wlz) do not go through us.

Frequently asked questions

  • Care in kind – You often cannot choose who comes to help. An advantage is that you do not have to arrange the care yourself. You also do not have to keep any administration.
  • Personal budget – You can choose who helps you and when. You do have to sign a contract with that person or organization yourself. You also have to make a schedule and do the administration yourself.

First, it must be clear what care you need exactly. If that is clear, you can apply for a pgb. This can be done in various places:

  • A personal budget from the Social Support Act (Wmo) You can apply for this at the municipality of Utrecht.
  • A personal budget from the Youth Law (Jw) you can apply at the neighborhood team in your neighborhood.
  • You can apply for a personal budget under the Long-term Care Act (Wlz) at CIZ
  • For a personal budget under the Health Insurance Act, you can contact your health insurer.

Yes, that is possible. Two examples:

  • You apply for personal care and nursing. You arrange personal care via a pgb. For nursing you use home care (care in kind).
  • One of your parents goes to day care via ZIN. In addition, your parent has a pgb for personal care and household help.

Yes, with both schemes you contribute if you are eighteen or older. How much you have to pay depends on the support you receive. You can find more information about this on the website of the Central Administration Office (CAK).
