Additional youth care

The neighbourhood team in your district is happy to help you with your questions and concerns about raising and growing up children. We also help you find solutions to problems within your family. Sometimes, in addition to the support from the neighbourhood team, extra help or knowledge is needed. For example, because you are dealing with:

  • Serious behavioral problems
  • Depression
  • A (mild) intellectual disability that requires extra help
  • Trauma (someone in your family has experienced something bad and is suffering a lot from it)

If this is an issue within your family, you can work with a neighborhood team employee to see if and what additional youth care is needed around your child or family. contact with the neighborhood team.

Two types of additional youth care

The neighbourhood team is happy to help you get the right support for your family. Together with you, we will create a family plan to see what your family needs. If additional youth care is needed, there are two options:

  1. Care in kind (ZIN). This is offered in Utrecht by Spoor030 en CHOOSE .
  2. Personal budget (pgb). This allows you to purchase help yourself, but there are a number of conditions attached to it. You can find more information on the website of the municipality of Utrecht

Together with you, we will look at which support best suits your family. Take contact with the neighborhood team in your district.

FAQ

The neighbourhood team, the family doctor or youth doctor can answer many (help) questions. Sometimes extra help or knowledge is needed in addition to the support they provide. This is called additional youth care. This can include support from a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist, but also support at school or foster care. You can discuss with the neighbourhood team whether additional youth care is needed.

  • ZIN – You receive support through the organizations Spoor030 of CHOSE. They have a lot of knowledge and experience in the field of additional care. They also know your neighborhood well and are close by. Another advantage of ZIN is that you do not have to arrange the care yourself. You also do not have to keep any administration.
  • Pgb – You can choose who helps you and when, but this budget does have a number of conditions. You also have to arrange a lot yourself. For example, you conclude a contract with the care provider you choose. You also have to make a schedule and do the administration yourself.

You can apply for a pgb if you are entitled to additional youth care and you want to receive this care from a provider with whom the municipality of Utrecht does not have a contract. You apply for a pgb via the neighbourhood team employee who is involved with your family. For more information, see the website of the municipality of Utrecht or for website of the central government.

For care in kind via the Youth Act, you do not pay a personal contribution. With a personal budget, you sometimes have to contribute to the care you want to purchase, for example if the care provider charges a higher amount than you are reimbursed.
