There is violence at home

Your home should be a safe place for you, your partner and your children. If it is not – due to your own behaviour or that of others – it is good to contact Safe at Home Utrecht or the neighborhood team in your district.

We would like to listen to your story and think with you about solutions. Just like you, we want the violence in your home to stop and not happen again. So contact Veilig Thuis Utrecht or call, email or come by soon at the neighborhood team, because violence never stops by itself. Are you in immediate danger? Call the police immediately on 112!

Help with domestic violence

Violence is taking place in or around your home. You, your child, your partner, your father, mother or another family member is involved. Get help immediately! 

There are different forms of domestic violence:

  • Physical violence such as hitting, kicking or injuring with an object.
  • Psychological violence such as: bullying, humiliation, threats or stalking.
  • Sexual violence such as: unwanted touching or rape.

Is this happening in your home or do you suspect it is happening? Contact us immediately Safe at Home Utrecht or the police. You can also at the neighborhood team in your neighborhood for a conversation or support.

If you, your child, or anyone else in your home is in immediate danger, call the police immediately. Call 112! Or for more information, visit www.politie.nl/112. Is there no immediate danger, but would you like to ask someone for advice or support as soon as possible? Contact Veilig Thuis Utrecht, telephone number: 0800-2000. This telephone number is always available.

You are also welcome to join a neighborhood team! Click on this link for a neighbourhood team in your neighbourhood. Maybe you know someone else you trust and can talk to, for example your teacher, sports coach or someone from your family or circle of friends. Talk to him or her about it. Maybe you would rather call or chat? Contact the Children's Helpline. Call 0800-0432 for free or go to the website. Don't keep walking around with it alone, seek help!

Yes, but it is better to contact the police or another organization (first). For example:

  • If you are forced to work for someone, call the police.
  • If you are dealing with a loverboy or lovergirl, call the police or contact Center for Sexual Violence
  • If you are being blackmailed, call the police.
  • If you are in any other type of unsafe situation, call the police or contact up with the neighborhood team in your neighborhood.

Together with other organizations, we look at how we can make your situation as safe as possible. 

If your child is in an unsafe situation, for example due to child abuse, we work together with Together Safe Central Netherlands. The neighborhood team will help you to make your home situation safe as quickly as possible.

The neighborhood team follows the Reporting Code for Domestic Violence and Child Abuse. If we are concerned about the safety of a child or adult, we will of course discuss this with you first. If we feel it is necessary, we will report it to Safe at Home Utrecht.

We also work together with Together Safe Central Netherlands to make the home situation safe as quickly as possible. Sometimes we work together with the police.
