Threatening homelessness

Are you at risk of becoming homeless? Are you staying with family, friends or acquaintances because you don't have your own house or room? Contact the neighbourhood team as soon as possible.

Often, impending homelessness is not the only problem. You may also be suffering from mental health issues, divorce, domestic violence, unemployment, addiction or something else. Whatever the problem, take contact with the neighborhood team in your district. Together we will look for a solution.

The neighborhood team will help you

Together with you, we will look at what is causing you to become homeless. Then we will make a plan to see who can help you. Maybe you have family, friends, neighbors or other people you trust and who can support you? And if not, we are here for you! We are happy to help you with things like money matters, finding temporary housing and applying for benefits, allowances or a postal address. We also know which organizations in Utrecht can offer you the help you need. Nis at contact with the neighborhood team in your district, so that we can look for a solution together!

The municipality of Utrecht pays for the largest part of the shelter. You pay €6 per 24 hours yourself. In return you get a place to sleep, meals, coffee and tea, activities and guidance. In cold weather (when the perceived temperature is below zero at night) you can stay overnight for free in various places in Utrecht.

If you are homeless, you can apply for a special assistance benefit at the city office of the municipality of Utrecht. You can find the city office at Stadsplateau 1. For people who are homeless, there is a consultation hour from Monday to Friday between 9.00:10.00 and XNUMX:XNUMX. For more information, see the website of the municipality of Utrecht.

First, see if there is someone in your area whose address you can use as a postal address. You can tell that person that your postal address has no effect on his or her possible benefits or allowances. Also, that person is not responsible for your debts, if you have any.

If that doesn't work, you can contact Civil Affairs from the municipality of Utrecht, City Team Back Up and the neighborhood team in your neighborhood.
