About the neighborhood teams

Everyone needs help sometimes! Everyone sometimes has to deal with difficulties and setbacks. Then it is of course nice if people can share their questions or concerns with family, friends or other people around them. They can often offer the support they need. But sometimes the problems are complex and more and professional support is needed. Then you can think of help from a general practitioner, professionals at school or other (care) professionals. And also support from a neighborhood team in the district or at school.

Our neighbourhood teams are happy to help residents of the municipality of Utrecht with questions or concerns about, for example: making ends meet, debts, stress, psychological complaints, growing up and raising children, loneliness, and so on.

Help in every neighborhood

Each district in the municipality of Utrecht has a neighbourhood team consisting of professional care providers. This way, help is always nearby. The neighbourhood team employees help residents of the municipality of Utrecht by discussing their questions and concerns together. Each client is assigned a permanent contact person.

The client makes a plan together with the neighbourhood team employee. This describes the desired situation and the goals the client wants to work on. The plan includes what the client can do to move forward and how family, friends and initiatives in the neighbourhood can help. It also looks at whether additional help is needed. In addition to neighbourhood teams in the neighbourhood, there are also neighbourhood teams for secondary education (VO), special education (SO) and intermediate vocational education (MBO).

The power of together

As neighborhood teams we strongly believe in the power of together. You can see that in our work in various ways:

  • In addition to the individual guidance of our clients, we are increasingly focusing on group-oriented support. We encourage our clients to participate in group meetings around specific themes. There, supported by experienced neighbourhood team employees, they can work on their own theme.
  • The neighbourhood teams work together with various organisations and institutions in the neighbourhood, such as general practitioners, consultation centres, mental health care, (pre)schools, neighbourhood centres, housing corporations, residents' groups and more. Together they not only strengthen the Utrecht residents who ask for support, but also their network and the neighbourhood in which they live. At the bottom of this page you will find an overview of a number of organisations and institutions with which we actively collaborate.

The origin of the neighborhood teams in Utrecht

In 2015, a large part of the care was transferred by the government to local municipalities. This was laid down in the Social Support Act (Wmo) and the Youth Act. The municipality of Utrecht has chosen to work with neighbourhood teams throughout the city.

Close by and tailor-made

There was a beautiful ambition: 'Care nearby and tailored, as much as possible part of normal life. Light care where possible, specialist care where necessary.' In order to implement this ambition, the municipality opted for cooperation with two organisations, namely a neighbourhood team organisation for youth and family (Localise) and a neighborhood team organization for adults (Neighborhood team organization Social Utrecht). Together they form the neighbourhood teams in Utrecht. Thanks to this collaboration, children, young people and adults in Utrecht receive the support they need!

About Lokalis and the Neighborhood Team Organization Social Utrecht

The basis for help and support in Utrecht is the Utrecht (care) model. This consists of three tracks: the social basis, basic care and additional care. The neighbourhood teams fall under basic care. They support the residents of Utrecht in various areas, such as work, education, financial matters, health, upbringing, etc. Two organisations together form the neighbourhood teams in Utrecht. We would like to introduce both to you:

Localise
Lokalis offers professional support to children, young people and families through neighbourhood teams Youth & Family. The neighbourhood team employees help the residents of Utrecht to realise the most stable family situation possible. Lokalis strives to ensure that children can grow up healthy and safe and can develop and grow to their full potential. At Lokalis, the child (0-18 years) is always central. At the same time, the organisation contributes to the development of the child's school and neighbourhood. In this way, similar problems can be prevented in other children and young people where possible. More information can be found at www.lokalis.nl.

Neighborhood team organization Social Utrecht
Neighbourhood team organisation Sociaal Utrecht offers professional support to adults who do not have minor children through the neighbourhood teams Social. These neighbourhood teams offer the residents of Utrecht help in many different areas such as: care and welfare, addiction, work and income. They support people in finding solutions to live and reside as independently as possible. The foundation was founded in 2015 by Incluzio. This organisation strives to make every neighbourhood a better neighbourhood. More information can be found at www.incluzio.nl.
