Help with informal care

You are a caregiver if you care for someone in your family or relatives for a long period of time. This can be someone who is ill or disabled for a long time, or has a disability. Often it is a family member: your partner, child or one of your parents.

As a caregiver, you face many challenges: how do you arrange the right care? And – also very important – how do you ensure that you can continue to provide the care yourself. How do you guard your own boundaries and do you sufficiently reflect on your own feelings?

We are happy to help you. Call, email or come by at the neighborhood team in your district.

Help from the neighborhood team

As a neighbourhood team, we are happy to think along with you about the right help for the person you are caring for. At the same time, we also look at what you need to continue providing informal care. Finding the right care can sometimes be quite difficult. We are happy to think along with you about this. We can also help you to get respite care. Respite care means that someone else takes over your care tasks for a while, so that you can rest. Informal care is often very difficult. Know that you do not have to bear the care alone. Take touch with with the neighborhood team in your district.

FAQ

No, you are not obliged to do so, but sometimes you do have to provide informal care. For example, if your partner, child, parent or someone in your environment needs help for a longer period of time. The neighbourhood team will be happy to discuss with you what care you can provide yourself and where care professionals can support you.

Informal care is provided to someone who needs help for a long time. You do not get paid for it and you do not need a diploma for it. Employees are paid for professional care. They have also followed a training for it. You can apply for professional care at the municipality of Utrecht or via your health insurer. We are happy to help you with that.

You can contact:
