My child has psychological problems

As a parent, you want your child to be well. If things aren't going well mentally, it's not just your child but often your entire family that suffers. If your child has been depressed or anxious for a while, experiences a lot of stress or sleeps badly, it's important to seek help.

Perhaps there is someone in your immediate circle who can help you further, such as a family member, friend, neighbor, or teacher. Perhaps more is needed. In that case, do not hesitate to contact your GP, Jeugdgezondheidszorg Utrecht , or the neighborhood team in your area. We are happy to be there for you!

The neighborhood team helps

The neighborhood team in your area is happy to talk to you and your child about your questions and concerns. We can support your child with issues related to insecurity, unhappiness, bullying, sexuality, identity, addiction, anxiety about the future, and so on. Of course, there may also be issues within your family that have caused your child to develop psychological symptoms, for example due to a divorce, the death of a loved one, financial problems, etc. In that case, too, you can turn to us.

Together, we will create a family plan to help you move forward. Does your child need more than we can offer? We work closely with care professionals and organizations that provide additional youth care in Utrecht . If necessary, we will put you in touch with them so they can support you. You are not alone! Call, email, or visit us.

  • We would like to talk to you to see what is going on with your child and what is causing the psychological complaints.
  • Together with you, we will create a family plan in which we describe your desired situation and how you can achieve it yourself and/or with support.
  • How we will achieve your desired situation can vary. Sometimes we will have conversations with you and/or your child. Sometimes group-oriented activities with other children or parents, who are experiencing approximately the same thing, can help you or your child. And sometimes you and/or your child can follow an (online) training.
  • If you or we feel that more is needed than the support provided by the neighbourhood team, we will work together to find additional youth care.

In short: we look together with you and your child at what your desired situation is and support you in the way that suits you best.

The assistance of the neighborhood team is free.
